We have a Winner!!!!

Ladies and Gentleman, we have a winner! Unfortunately, we don't have a prize.

Anonymous poster at 7:41PM has stumbled upon the strange combinations of heksherim that can be found on my English Muffins sitting in my refrigerator: an OU and a Triangle-K.

To me, this was a downright bizarre combination of heksherim. Why pay for both of these heksherim? One provides a broad market. I can't imagine that the other heksher adds any other consumers. Just strange.

Congratulations to our winner. May you be blessed with a wonderful year and be sealed in the book of life. And, next time you win a competition, may you be blessed with an actual prize.

Glad everyone had fun with this. And, congrads to Mike Miller on the funniest post.

VERY odd!

here's my explanation:
triangle-k is willing to put a hechsher on dairy bread. ou is not. this muffin was probably dairy, and under the triangle-k, until recently, when it decided to go pareve to get the ou.
since either they had already printed the packages, or were already under contract w/ triangle-k, they wound up w/ both on the packages (more likely the former).

Adderabbi-Reasonable theory. But, still an odd combo to run into. :)

Considering the price was right for this product (i.e. I will be buying again) , I will be watching to see if the packaging changes.

ou give a hechser on thomas's english muffins they are dairy the ou does not give a hechser on regular dairy bread since it could be mistaken forpareve bread and the is a esur on dairy bread. But thomas english muffins are know to be dairy and are different looking than regular bread so the ou allows it they get hell from the charidei hechserim for this

From what I have heard, the OU regrets allowing Thomas's to have an OUD, but since they allowed it, they continue to allow it.

There is no kashrus alert on this product? This is clearly an unauthorized use (printing error) of one symbol or the other!

As for the OU, while the more reliable OK tends to be the real authority behind the haimishe hashgachos, plenty rely on the OU as well - I think Gefen has some OU-Volover Rov products out there.

No kashrut alert. I'm thinking ADDERabbi's explaination is the most plausible.
